Welcome to WCBA

Welcome to the Will County Bar Association's website.  The WCBA is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to serving and supporting the legal community. The WCBA is committed to providing education, professional development, and service programs for its 500+ members, the legal profession as well as the local community.   

WCBA Objectives  

  • To maintain the honor and dignity of the profession of law
  • To promote an understanding of the law and its application in the community
  • To advance the due administration of justice
  • To support the ability of the Bar to provide for public service   

The WCBA also assists the local community and greater Chicago area through an active Lawyer Referral Service and backs the legal aid program encouraging its members to provide Pro Bono services for those in need.  Click here to request a Lawyer Referral.

The Will County Bar Association is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the Association’s members and maintains a professional staff committed to the ongoing support of the association and its members.   

Luncheon and Cocktail Reception

The Will County Bar Association, in conjunction with the Will County Women’s Bar Association; the Black Bar Association of Will County; and the Latino Bar Association of Will County has planned an optional noon Luncheon and 5:30 Cocktail Reception. Both will be held on the campus of the University of St. Francis in Joliet. The luncheon will be held prior to the seminar, with check in beginning at 11:30 and lunch served at noon at a cost of $30.00. The open bar and appetizer reception will follow the seminar, until 7:00, at a cost of $30.00 per attendee or attend both for $50.00. Space is limited and advance reservations are available on a first come basis. Please refer here for further details.

In conjunction with those events, all WCBA members are invited to attend “Service to the Public by Legal Leaders”, a free 4 hour CLE seminar on Thursday October 20, 2016. A list of presenters and timeline may be found here. Check in for the CLE begins at 12:45 with introductions beginning promptly at 1:10.  This seminar will be held in the James and Patricia Sexton Auditorium in the Moser Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of St. Francis in Joliet (a campus map may be referenced here). Red Mass

The Annual Red Mass will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Cathedral of St. Raymond, 604 N. Raynor Av. in Joliet. A breakfast buffet catered by Ali Tucker Artistic Entertaining will follow in the Church commons at a cost of $11.00 per adult and $6 per child 10 years old and younger. Please mail payments for the breakfast to the WCBA office 167 N. Ottawa St. Ste 200 Joliet, IL 60432 to be received no later than November 4.

Save the Date

The annual WCBA Holiday Party is Wednesday, December 7 beginning at 5:00 at Syl’s Restaurant in Rockdale. Further details will be announced soon.

Mentoring program

The WCBA will be offering the yearlong Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program, with the mandatory program luncheon on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at noon. To qualify as a mentee, a new attorney must begin the mentoring program no later than two years after being admitted to the Illinois Bar. Mentors and mentees earn 6 hours of Professional Responsibility credit upon completion of the program. Details will be announced In November regarding exact qualifications and the application process, with applications due the end of December.
